Mike and Rick, the resident artist, are shown in the Kitchen area of the Great Room. The space is defined by its roof lines and the structure. Black cabinets complement the colorful art collection.
We sought to make a modest house into a gallery-like setting for this artist’s world class art collection. We embraced simplicity. We removed upper cabinets from the kitchen and replaced the storage space with a single, vertical mass of cabinets flanking a side wall. The cabinet block, echoing an existing architectural mass, creates a sense of order and balance. Lighting is integrated with the structure. Panoramic new windows are cut into the walls. The result is an interior that becomes a single place: an understated backdrop for wonderful art.
This contemporary house was remodeled with a Modern, Minimalist contextual architecture in mind.
